10-weekend fashion make-up and hair

Our training in fashion make-up and hair can be taken over the course of 10 months, one weekend per month, allowing students to continue with their full time job or family commitments.

The days are longer than during the week (at the weekends we work 9.30-5.30) and we are therefore able to cover the whole fashion training in10 weekends. Please note this schedule applies to the current year and is subject to change.

Weekend 1

Day 1: Discussion of hair styling techniques and products followed by demonstration on male model. Students work on dollyheads.

Day 2: Demonstration and practical of modern 1960s hair. Demonstration and practical of upstyle pleat. Demonstration of hairpiece attachment with catwalk style. Demonstration of modern 1940s hair. Demonstration of hairstyles: cornrow, French, herringbone, 5-stem, straight plaits, flip through. Students work on dollyheads and models.

Weekend 2

Day 1: Demonstration of finger waving, high ponytail, sculpted curls. Demonstration of preparing hair for wig application. Students work on models, ending the day blow drying

Day 2: Demonstration of bridal hair up style with talk on doing bridal work. Demonstration of bridal low style. Students work on bridal style.

Weekend 3

Day 1: Students practice hair. Talk and introduction to make-up kit. Demonstration of natural look with eyelash curling and perfect brows. Students work on models.

Day 2: Demonstration of natural eye make-up. Students work on models. Demonstration of heavy eye make-up Students work on models.

Weekend 4

Day 1: Demonstration of modern 1960s with eyelashes. Students work on models. Demonstration of modern 1940s with individual eyelashes. Students work on models. Demonstration of glitter look.

Day 2: Students work on models – glitter look. Demonstration of shimmer and shine. Students work on models. Demonstration of Vogue pinks and golds.

Weekend 5

Day 1: Students work on models – Vogue pinks and golds. Demonstration of make-up for fashion catalogue. Students work on models. Demonstration of make-up and hair – Vogue magazine look with cream eyeshadows. Students work on models.

Day 2: Demonstration of make-up with a focus on darker skin tones. Students work on models. Demonstration of man's make-up. Hair practice session on dollyheads.

Weekend 6

Day 1: Demonstration of modern 1970s with hair. Students work (hair and make-up). Practice session.

Day 2: Demonstration of modern 1950s iwth hair. Students work both hair and make-up. Practice session.

Weekend 7

Day 1: Demonstration of blocking out eyebrows, plus gems with hairstyle. Students work both hair and make-up. Demonstration of smokey eyes. Students work on models.

Day 2: Demonstration of glamour bronzing with hair. Students work on make-up and hair if time. Demonstation of tattoos. Students work. Demonstration of using gold leaf. Students work on models.

Weekend 8

Day 1: Demonstration of bridal make-up. Students work on hair and make-up. Demonstration of mother of the bride make-up. Students work on models. Practice session all afternoon – make-up and hair.

Day 2: Students work on longhaired models: Modern 1940s hair and make-up then photograph. Modern 1970s hair and make-up then photograph.

Weekend 9

Day 1: Students work on longhaired models. Bridal hair and make-up then photograph. Eyebrow blocking with gems and neat hair up then photograph.

Day 2: Students work on longhaired models. Glamour bronzing, attach hairpiece and back combing then photograph. Vogue / photographic make up using cream eyeshadows, hair up with flower and ribbons. Photograph.

Weekend 10

Day 1: Students work on longhaired models: Modern 1950s makeup, hair up, barrel curls, then photograph. Modern 1960s make up, neat hair up with backcombing then photograph.

Day 2: Students work on longhaired models. Heavy smokey eyes and water waving then photograph. Glitter eyes and hotsticks then photograph. Student assessments and certificates awarded.
